Your child always comes first and his/her best interest drives every conversation and decision.
The ultimate goal is for each parent to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to independently advocate for their child throughout his/her education.
Genuine teamwork, rather than an adversarial battle, is the key to an effective program of support for your child.
I am a former general education and special education teacher, Instructional Coach, Principal, and Director of Special Education, but first and foremost, I am a fellow parent who is fiercely committed to doing whatever it takes to do what is right for my three children. This passion extends to ensuring that all children, particularly those with special needs, have access to a high quality education and the ensuing opportunities to pursue their dreams.
I have spent the last 16 years in the field of education, dedicated to partnering with families to teach and support students in individualized ways. I believe that the diversity of perspectives that my time in various roles within the school setting has afforded me a unique ability to serve as an advocate during conversations with school staff.
Additionally, I have two teaching credentials through UCLA and CSUF, as well as a school administrator’s credential. I also earned a Master’s degree in Special Education from Arizona State University that focused on consultation and collaboration, with an emphasis on the Autism Spectrum Disorder.
As a former Director of Special Education for a network of schools, I have led both the instructional and compliance programs. Because of this, I am intimately aware of the rights of parents of children with special needs under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. I have also learned first-hand of the power of inclusion. After implementing a dynamic, inclusive special education model, I have since witnessed the tremendous academic and social emotional growth of students.
As a parent, I know how critical each decision regarding your child’s well-being can feel. I would truly consider it my honor and privilege to partner with you as we pursue your child’s best interest and future dreams.
This 30 minute phone call will allow me to get to know you and your child and better understand your concerns. The session will conclude with recommendations in how to best move forward in advocating for your child’s needs, and a proposal of how I may be able to partner with you.
As your child’s special education advocate, I am committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure their access and individual success, including:
Don't feel alone in your child's next IEP meeting. Together, we will process the data and ensure that your child's needs are appropriately met.

"Upon realizing my daughter was dyslexic, I knew I needed someone to help me get her support at school. Jennie understood what I was experiencing and immediately put me at ease. She is extremely knowledgeable about learning disabilities, what resources the schools have to help, and how to get these resources in place. Even though I live in Colorado, she knew exactly what the laws were and helped me understand my rights. I believe my daughter will get the help she needs because of Jennie."
"My son is 12 years old and continues to be challenged in a traditional school setting while dealing with ADHD. He is a great kid and smart but we have had trouble communicating what he needs in a classroom setting in order to succeed. Not only did Jennie offer to spend one on one time with us as parents but also wanted to get to know our son and his needs. She helped us get organized and prepared in order to present his needs to the school staff. She also gave us support and practical solutions to help us at home with our son. She joined us at his triennial IEP meeting and was professional, assertive and very knowledgeable. I feel as though we finally got things accomplished dealing with my son's goals and accommodations and support through school, which hasn't happened in the meetings previously. I plan to use Jennie's expertise and support in the years to come. I will continue to refer her 100 percent to anyone that needs help through this process."
" I simply can’t express how grateful we are to Jennie and her tremendous advice and help. I don’t know what we would have done without her guidance. Unfortunately our child’s condition was complex and severe and difficult to understand. Furthermore, the situation was compounded by the fact that our child was deteriorating quickly and we were trying to assess a moving target. She helped guide us through the process with the district as we began to understand the severity of our child’s condition. She also directed us to the proper resources. She spent much time with us over the phone as we struggled to determine the best next step. Her advice was invaluable as we thankfully were able to get appropriate education for our special needs child. I don’t know if this would have been possible without someone as knowledgeable and committed as Jennie."
